Have you always wanted to do something that pushes you out of your comfort zone? Our expeditions are geared for the more intrepid traveller, the Laugavegur Trail is our signature expedition, a trek that starts in the southern highlands of the Fjallabak Nature Reserve and at its full length finishes in dramatic style beneath thundering Skogafoss. In true Active Iceland fashion, we have mastered the art of glamourous campinging – fully supported by our go-anywhere Super Jeeps, think sleeping in tents lined with sheepskin rugs and a communal tent warmed by heaters and serviced by our mobile camp kitchen. We can guarantee an experience you won’t soon forget and a level of comfort that is hard to match. From the icy summit of Hvannadalshnúkurr to the isolation of the West Fjords on the edge of the Arctic Circle, Iceland is favoured with hundreds of miles of exciting trekking, biking and climbing wilderness to challenge and inspire over and over again.
Our expedition leaders are qualified mountain & wilderness guides and are supported by knowledgeable, qualified local guides. While occasionally available at a considerable price, porter service is not common practice in Iceland, but where an expedition can be supported by vehicle all expedition gear, both personal and for the group, is transported for you between camps/lodging and prepared in anticipation of your arrival, leaving you to merely concentrate on the task ahead. Iceland has some truly remote wilderness environments, and where vehicle support is not possible and porter support is minimal or not available, you may be asked to participate in gear carry and the usual camp work-load under the direction of your trip leader – your expedition itinerary will detail the level of involvement required. Our most popular routes involve gradient and altitude, but we also offer spectacular wilderness and coastal expeditions which require a sure-footed sense of adventure and good-humoured endurance.
